Over to Neil...
Hi Neil, what is your role at Vacancy Filler?
I’m the User Experience Architect, or UX Architect, and I'm in charge of the user road-map ensuring both our customers and their candidates are getting the best possible experience from the Vacancy Filler platform.
Can you tell me about your background?
Back in the 1990’s I became launch editor for the ‘Internet Magazine’, while there I was consultant editor for the ‘Rough Guide to the Internet’ that reviewed (at the time) all the websites on the internet
From there I became an evangelist for everything UX and eCommerce related, talking, designing, presenting and teaching people on the benefits of customer experience on the internet.
What drew you to join Vacancy Filler originally?
What initially attracted me to Vacancy Filler was the fact they are a technology led company with a fantastic product and big ambitions for the development of the product - with the customer/user at the forefront of the roadmap - which impressed me from the word go. Plus, I come from a background in retail and eCommerce, having previously been in charge of the UX team for Next . I thought this therefore, was a great fit as quite a few of Vacancy Filler's customers were retail and my experience with Next would help take the product to new heights - from a UX point of view obviously!!
What do you like most about working for Vacancy Filler?
I've joined a great team, full of specialisms and expertise who are really friendly and welcoming. My passion is UX and it's great to be leading the team responsible for UX to a large number of customers, across a large number of sectors - from Zoo's to construction to one of the largest retailers in the UK!
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would star as Neil Ullah?
Daniel Craig, but it would be more likely to be Danny Devito lol!!
If you could choose absolutely anyone, who would you pick as your mentor?
What’s the most recent app you’ve downloaded?
Smarter Kettle, it allows me to switch on my kettle and set the temperature remotely.
The BBC, it’s a fantastic example of a customer-centric site. It’s amazing how much data they have yet it’s still easy for its content to be consumed by viewers
